FLY UX

A study project to develop a better flight booking app.

The new app would face challenges with booking flights during a pandemic. But also to offer other requirements to book a flight.

Benchmarking

To learn which functions to use and how the user worked through a flight app and did some research with benchmarking. I found the use of combining illustrations, colors in the forms was used as a way to direct to a flight booking or a hotel booking.

Affinity diagram

I took my research results and sorted it to start find a pattern in an affinity diagram.

Customer Journey

After a first user test in an existing flight app I presented the results with a customer journey map.

User Flow

The functionality was starting to take shape for the new flight app. In this user flow I put my research results to use.

Sketch

First sketching of the new app. I wanted to keep the booking process to a minimum of steps. So I took inspiration from other booking apps with a fixed selection menu at the botom om the screen, to make it easier for the user to see where in the booking process it was. But also to give the user overview of the content.
